Today, the German Road Safety Council elected its new Board of Directors. At the general meeting, VDIK Managing Director Alexander Jess was also elected to the DVR’s executive committee for the first time. Jess emphasized: “Ensuring that our roads become safer and safer is an important concern for us at the VDIK and also for me personally. I am looking forward to working on this in a very concrete way in the German Road Safety Council.”

Today’s general meeting also marked the end of the longstanding DVR presidency of Prof. Dr. Walter Eichendorf. VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel thanked Prof. Eichendorf for his commitment: “Over the past almost one and a half decades, Walter Eichendorf has played a decisive role in shaping transport policy in Germany. He is a passionate fighter for road safety and his work has contributed to making our roads even safer and thus saving many lives. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Walter Eichendorf for his work. We wish his successor Manfred Wirsch every success.”

For the VDIK, road safety work is an essential field of activity. The international manufacturers have significantly influenced the overall positive development in road safety in recent years through their innovations in the field of active and passive safety. They will continue to make an active contribution to increasing road safety in the future. In particular, modern driver assistance systems and their networking with a wide range of information sources will play an increasingly important role.
