Bad Homburg. The VDIK welcomes the approval of the EU Commission for the German funding program for a charging infrastructure. As part of the package of measures for electromobility, it will support the setup of 5,000 rapid-charging stations with 200 million Euros and the setup of 10,000 standard charging stations with 100 million Euros from March, 2017. The setup of these 15,000 charging stations in Germany combined with the other measures such as tax incentives for electric vehicles and the environmental bonus will significantly increase the attractiveness of electric vehicles for commercial and private customers.<\/p>\n
Right at the start of the year 2017, the sales of electric vehicles rose by 97 percent to 2,856 units compared to the same month of the previous year. Of this, 1,323 registrations were made for purely electric vehicles and 1.533 registrations for plug-in hybrid vehicles. The VDIK members boosted their new registrations in this area above average with 111 percent.<\/p>\n
VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel: “The approval of the EU Commission now allows the Federal Government to significantly accelerate the development of a comprehensive charging network. We expressly welcome the fact that all current charging standards, including the Chademo system, are eligible for funding and thus allow for non-discriminatory charging.\u201d<\/p>\n
