The positive trend in the German passenger car market continued in February 2017. With 243,602 new passenger car registrations, the month nominally remained 2.6 percent below the figure of the same month in the previous year. On a working day basis, however, February 2017 achieved a growth of 2.4 percent compared to the same month in the previous year. In the first two months of the year, a total of 485,001 passenger cars were newly registered, a growth of 3.5 percent in comparison to the reference period.<\/p>\n<p>VDIK members again increased their sales more than the overall market and improved their market share by about 2 percentage points to 36.3 percent in the first two months of the year.<\/p>\n<p>New registrations of private customers reached almost 80,000 units, which is nearly the level of in the same month in the previous year. In the months of January and February 2017, the private market grew in total by 6 percent and now accounts for 32.1 percent of the overal market.<\/p>\n<p>VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel: &#8220;Private demand continues to play a major role in the growth of the overall market. The private customer finds his desired car increasingly among the VDIK members. They achieved a disproportionate growth of 12 percent in this segment and increased their market share to 50 percent in February.
