This corresponds to a decrease of 0.5 percent compared to the same month last year. The proportion of new registrations with alternative drive systems fell to 44.7% in June, down from 47.7% in June 2023. A total of 645,621 new vehicles with alternative drive systems were registered between January and June. This corresponds to an increase of 2.2% compared to the same period last year. In the first half of 2024, the share of alternative drive systems reached 43.9% after 45.2% in the same period in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>New registrations of <strong>purely battery electric passenger cars (BEV)<\/strong> fell by 18.1% to 43,412 units in June. The BEV share of total new passenger car registrations reached 14.6%. In June 2023, it was still 18.9%. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 184,125 BEVs (-16.4%) have been newly registered, accounting for 12.5% of all new passenger car registrations.<\/p>\n<p>New registrations of vehicles with <strong>plug-in hybrid drives (PHEV)<\/strong> fell slightly in June. 15,391 PHEVs rolled onto the roads, 3.4% fewer than in the same month last year. If the lower number of working days compared to the previous year is taken into account, this would result in a positive single-digit growth rate. The share of new car registrations fell to 5.2% (June 2023: 5.7%). From January to June 2024, 89,549 PHEVs were newly registered, which is 13.3% more than in the first six months of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Together, <strong>electric vehicles<\/strong> (BEVs, plug-in hybrids and fuel cell vehicles) therefore had a market share of 19.8% in June with 58,803 new registrations. This corresponds to a decrease of 14.7 percent compared to June last year. Since the beginning of the year, the market for electric vehicles has fallen by 8.6%. In the first six months, 273,708 new electric vehicles were registered. The share of the total passenger car market amounted to 18.6 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The VDIK regularly updates the list of electric vehicles of its member companies. The VDIK electric list can be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdik.de\/en\/topics\/alternative-drivetrains\/electric-mobility\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hybrid vehicles without plugs<\/strong> also achieved positive growth of 16.5% in June. 72,579 new registrations correspond to a 24.4% share of passenger car registrations (June 2023: 22.3%). In the first six months of 2024, hybrid vehicles without plugs increased by 12.3% to 363,966 new registrations, taking their share to 24.7% (January-June 2023: 23.2%).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, 1,458 <strong>LPG cars<\/strong> (-30.9%) and 8 <strong>natural gas cars<\/strong> (-94.9%) rolled onto the roads in June.<\/p>\n<p>New registrations of combustion passenger cars reached 164,456 units in June, of which 111,768 were <strong>petrol<\/strong> (+12.1%) and 52,688 <strong>diesel<\/strong> (+12.4%). The share of petrol cars in passenger car registrations was 37.6 percent, while diesel cars accounted for 17.7 percent.\u00a0 Since the beginning of the year, 550,578 petrol cars (+7.4 percent) and
