Bad Homburg. New registrations of electric vehicles increased by 70 percent in January and February 2017 to 5,845 units compared to the same period in the previous year.

Of this, 2,869 registrations were made for purely electric vehicles and 2,976 registrations for plug-in hybrid vehicles. With 2,136 new registrations, the VDIK members grew by 107 percent, above average in this segment, and their market share is currently 48 percent.

Private customers recorded 1,573 registrations, the highest growth with a gain of 226 percent. Fleet registrations achieved 1,799 new registrations and rose by 86 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

VDIK president Reinhard Zirpel: “The funding measures for electromobility, in particular the environmental bonus, have been well received by customers. The measures are taking effect particularly with private customers and the number of registrations is now increasing significantly.”
