Bad Homburg. VDIK President Reinhard Zirpel comments on the current discussion on the further development of the eco-bonus:

“The International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers welcome the proposals to further improve the promotion of electric vehicles. In addition to tax incentives the environmental bonus should also be extended well beyond 2020. The effects of a possible price limit should be examined more closely. In any case, it should be avoided that electric cars that are already established on the market are put at a disadvantage. In addition to battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and fuel cell vehicles should not be neglected.

Basically, an overall concept of the Federal Government for the future promotion of electric mobility in Germany is necessary. In addition to the environmental bonus and company car taxation, this includes vehicle tax exemption and the promotion of the charging infrastructure.

For their part, the VDIK member companies are making a decisive contribution to the rapid growth of the electric car market in Germany with a wide range of electric vehicles. Of the top ten best-selling electric cars in Germany, five come from international manufacturers.”
